Today's US Military is NOT the same as the military during the Vietnam War, WWII, etc. Today's military has a "Law Enforcement" capability...whereas during the aforementioned wars, law enforcement, with the exception of martial law, etc., was NOT authorized; especially when it involved US citizens on US soil. Therefore, infantry and sniper/spotters, weapons, etc. SOP (Standard Operating Procedures) will more than likely be DIFFERENT than the Vietnam, WWII times.

During WWI, WWII, Korea, and Vietnam Wars, US servicemen were sometimes able to CHOOSE their MOS (Military Occupational Specialty=job)...but NOT their equipment. Servicemen utilized the equipment that they were issued; be it a M48 Patton tank or a .45 pistol.

US Army snipers in Vietnam were issued an XM-21 weapons system (US Army sniper rifle)...they used it. If they didn't like it, they had to make the best of it. If the Army sniper found a better sniper rifle while operating in the field, he got away with using it, until he re-entered the "rear" area...then he either had to hide it or surrender it, or otherwise get away with keeping it until he could reach the "field" again. Once back in the field, officers/commanders, etc. didn't much care what happened out there (in the field) as long as the mission was accomplished. Which is ONE reason, a lot of men preferred the field more than the rear areas (in all or most wars), a GI had more freedom in the field.

What is the difference between assassins and snipers?

Unlike medieval assassins, ninjas had morals and were very experienced in the martial arts as well as the art of hiding in plain sight. Through research, ninja weren't only used for assassination purposes, but as were also used in espionage, in which some elements of which were the basis for unconventional warfare and other techniques as practiced by special operations forces today. There are many other differences that I can't really explain right now, but feel free to research more on ninja and medieval assassins and find the differences on your own.

Should one collect Space marines or Imperial Guard?

Answer It depends what you like. If you have read the background fluff about one or the other and liked it, or you find them more interesting in general pick them.I would say that Space marines are probably the best starter army as Imperial guard play style can get more complex.

Do you get to pick your MOS in the US Marine Corps. I am not sure if you can pick your own or you have a wish list of 3 MOS's you want and they decide 1 of the 3. I want to be an 0311. Help?

The Marine Corps is very good at avoiding MOS overages in the support services. If you join the Marines to be a cook, they let you enlist to be a cook because they thought one of their cooks was about to get out of the Corps. If that guy stays in the Corps, they WILL reclassify you to something else. This happened to my brother--he was reclassified to three different things before he got out of training. Your case is different: there are never enough 0311s. If you want to be an 0311, and you can pass infantry school, you'll be an 0311.

What are the benefits of a sniper?

Snipers are needed in law enforcement and the military. If there is a hostage situation, a sniper could have a clear shot to take out the hostage taker if the situation warrants that. Likewise, police snipers can take out gunmen such as snipers and spree shooters from a safe distance away. In the military, you would need snipers to take out specific targets. Obviously, you need someone with excellent skills, since you want to pick off some of the opponent's good marksmen without drawing too much attention to your platoon's presence. You'd want people who can take out threats at a long distance off.

How long does it take to make Lance Corporal in the US Marines?

Usually about 14 months from the day you go to boot camp. You'll pick up Private First Class 6 months after you join, and then Lance Corporal 8 months after that. If you go into boot camp as a contract PFC, it will only take 9 months from the day you joined to pick up Lance.

Why did Napoleon meet his Waterloo?

Because he was foolish enough to pass down important rolls to his generals and didn't pick up the pieces quick enough. Also one mistake that a General made was that he sent in the cavalry with out any infantry.

How do you get to the marine island in Halo 3?

In the level the Covenant when you are flying in hornets after you take out the first tower it is the island with the wraith. You do the glitch by killing the wraith and the brutes on the island also kill the banshees overhead then land on the island and blow up your hornet. If done correctly marines in hornets will come and try too pick you up, when they land and get out blow up their hornets. In the end you can fill the island with marines. (this does not work every time)

What weapons are a Corpsman allowed to utilize?

We are trained to utilize almost every weapon an infantry marine is trained to use. Depending on what type of corpsman IE recon corpsmen you are trained in almost every weapon the marines use and if you are a seal corpsmen you are trained in pretty much the use of all weapons/explosives. When i was deployed with the marines I carried an M4(smaller version of the m16) and a m9. I was trained on using the 50 cal, the m9, the 249 saw, m16/m4. This was for just incase purposes if i ever needed to pick up and use of the weapons in a certain situation. It just depends on what type of corpsmen you are and the situation you will be in. We rarley try to carry many weapons because we would rather carry medical aid supplies in place of those weapons. I hope this helped.
