Yes, the 528i uses ATF fluid for the Power Steering. I was changing my PS lines a while back (check on those things because they leak) and every mechanic I spoke with said that any Dexron 4 - grade ATF fluid works fine. I recommend using Red Line. Redlineoil.com

Answer by DirtBikeFlyBoy917:
There should be a dipstick to check the ATF (Automatic Transmission Fluid). In there is where you re-fill the ATF. It is reccomended that you get a REALLY thin funnel that will fit in the Dip sticks hole, because there is no other whole to put it in. Also, there is a BIG difference between power steering fluid and ATF, so make sure that they are put in their proper places. Also, before you re-fill the ATF, make sure than you DRAIN the old ATF first. I dont know how to drain the old stuff, and if you do, please let me know.
