What you need is an alternator wiring pigtail harness from the dealer!
plus and ground
a short repair harness is available for most alternator connections from any good parts supplier
If it is melting over a period of time, try replacing the connector on the wire at the back of the alternator, or replace the wire and connectors. A little more info would be nice!!!

Could be a lot of things, but before you spend a lot of money, check TSB 04-14-9, or point it out to your mechanic.Seems that in '03 and early '04 models, there was a problem with electrical cross-talk between the charging circuit and ECU sensor leads in the alternator wiring harness which sometimes causes stalling. In my case ('04 model), I was able to fix it simply by cleaning and applying dielectric grease to a small 2-wire electrical connector in the alternator harness. Connector is located just below the battery, and was contaminated with a small amount of battery corrosion.Long term fix is to install a new alternator wiring harness, which I assume has improved shielding, and an ECU software update.
The diagnostic connector is along the wiring harness, under the hood, on the passenger side firewall. The diagnostic connector is along the wiring harness, under the hood, on the passenger side firewall.
I need a Connector for my 1993 Toyota Corolla and was told by a dealership to look at junk yards. The connector comes on the harness which you can buy but cost $1200. The hardest problem I have is finding the time to take the part off so I can run around to each junk yard to find it, but then one junk yard said it would be $25.
