What is the relationship between the slave trade and racism?

Slavery led to racism in the Americas because the slaves began to be seen as nothing but slaves, their lack of experience in the real world rendered them very naive, and their culture was much different from the White's. That, combined with the ignorance of the slave owners which was compounded with things like Jim Crowe and the general atmosphere that the slaves were the inferior servants led to racism.

How did africans overcome racism after they gained independence?

In most cases they didn't. They swapped black /white racism for black/black racism. If the other tribe worshipped a different god, spoke a different language,or even looked different that was often reason enough to hate.

How did Martin Luther King face racism?

In my honest opinion I feel that Martin Luther King faced racism by looking at the situation in a different light. Yes, whites did not like blacks and yes there was a lot of violence, but I think he turned to God and with God's help he saw through the racism. He encouraged others to protest without violence and try to find a peaceful means to end the racism. He went to jail fighting for what he believed in. I think to be honest this is an opinion question to some like it is to me. This is how I see he faced racism.
