you can clam your tax returns in jail

Yes, it would be considered unemployment fraud, as you have to be ready, willing, able, and ACTIVELY seeking full time employment constantly, which you obviously could not while incarcerated.

No. You need to be actively looking for employment and actually available for work. If you are temporarily out of jail you fit neither category.

Is it legal to collect unemployment benefits while you are in jail in Ohio?

Unemployment is designed for those ready, willing, and able to work, a status which you clearly do not hold if you are incarcerated. The penalty for lying or misrepresenting yourself to receive unemployment benefits can be severe and is known as benefits fraud - it may include fines and jail time.

Is it a crime to claim unenemployment husband while in Jail Martin County FL They are collected by me soon to be ex-wife kept in an envelope uncashed as he is in jail until Feb 2010 at least?

Yes. It is unlawful to continue to collect unemployment while the person is in jail. Obviously, if he's in jail he cannot be searching for a job. which is what he's supposed to be doing while collecting the benefits. You really should return the checks to the Unemployment Agency with an explanation. If you don't you MIGHT leave yourself open to the possibility of being prosecuted for illegally collecting them for him..

What would happen if you collected unemployment while incarcerated?

Collecting it would be illegal, as you can not comply with the conditions for receiving it. Return what you received and ask for it to be temporarily(?) discontinued. When you get out, there may be time left in your benefit period (normally 52 weeks to collect a normal 26 weeks of payments) to receive some of the benefits.

You work and still collect unemployment will they find out?

When they do, they will fine you, take back what you were paid, prevent you from collecting in the future, and possibly send you to jail for unemployment fraud. Do you want to chance that? Better to find out how much they will allow you to earn if you want to still collect benefits, which they may do in certain cases.

Unfortunately, no, as he could not fulfill the requirements. However, there may be other public support agencies/benefits that may be available.

Can you collect unemployment insurance after you are released from jail?

In most cases you cannot collect unemployment after maternity leave. If your maternity leave is over, your doctor has determined that you can go back to work. Unemployment is intended for those who are laid off from work.
