Are both resivoirs supposed to have brake fluid in them? Because the container where you refill brake fluid is as full as it is supposed to be. So are you supposed to open the cap of empty resivoir and pour directly in? My brake light came on a couple weeks ago and i also have a spongy brake pedal. Thank you, Darin
You open the hood, find the brake fluid reservoir, take the cap off and add DOT 3 brake fluid up to the full level.
open the cap on the brake mastercylinder reservoir and fill it to the top with Dot 3 brake fluid.
Luid You can open the cap on the fluid container when you compress the calipers back it will force the fluid back and then you bleed them to remove any air in the lines.
Open the hood, by the fire wall in the back on the drivers side is the Brake fluid reservoir, unscrew the cap and fill it with the appropriate DOT brake fluid to the line.
Start at the longest line (R-R) and work towards the shortest (L-F) Attach a flexible hose to the bleeder screw and place the other end into a container of brake fluid Have an assistant push the brake approx 2/3 down Open bleeder screw Observe hose in container Close bleeder screw Repeat until no bubbles appear in the container of fluid Continue to the next wheel Make sure master cylinder does not run out of fluid during procedure
Your in a bit of trouble here. Power steering fluid will cause the seals in your brake master cylinder, calipers, and wheel cylinders to swell up. The system will definitely need to be flushed out. Remove the lid to your master cylinder open a can of brake fluid and turn it upside down while sticking it on the opening of yoru master cylinder. Much like the bottle of water on an office water cooler. Then go to each wheel and open the caliper and wheel cylinder bleeders. The fluid in your brake sytem will flush out emptying the container of brake fluid into your brake system. Do this a couple times and don't let the master cylinder run dry or you will get air in your brake lines. This may still be too late if the p/s fluid has damaged your seals. If your pedal dose not feel perfect take it to a garage
Line is threaded at both ends (Wheel cylinder and junction block) Unscrew from both ends and remove old line Thread and route new line Attach a plastic flexible tube to the bleeder screw (at the top of wheel cylinder) put other end into a container filled with new brake fluid Make sure Master cylinder (under hood) is full Have assistant step on brake pedal Open bleeder screw Observe air bubbles in container of brake fluid Have assistant hold brake pedal down Tighten bleeder screw Have assistant step on brake pedal again and open bleeder screw Repeat process until NO Bubbles are observed in container Tighten bleeder screw refill mater cylinder
Start at the longest and work towards the shortest line (RR-LR-RF-LF) Attach a flexible hose to the bleeder screw at the top of the brake caliper Place the other end into a container filled with clean brake fluid Have an assistant hold brake pedal approx. 2/3 from the top Open bleeder screw observe the container with brake fluid (watch for air bubbles) Close bleeder screw Repeat until no air bubbles are observed Go to next wheel and repeat
