Yes, much like it is all over the rest of the civilized world. However, in America, tension between races seems to spike at certain points in time when the media readily provokes people with false claims of racism and ignores real claims of it.

Being such a diverse culture, America has a real potential to have racial tension and racism die down, come to halt, and just be a non matter, but it would take much effort of swallowed pride and actual understanding of others without being led by what's seen on television.
