I need to know how to bypass the anti theft system pass key on a 1997 Pontiac grand am. my car will start but goes dead. wont remain running
No there is not and the dealer definitely will not do it.
You cannot bypass or reset the Securilock anti-theft system on a 99 Ford Ranger. If the system begins to malfunction and you can no longer start the vehicle, you will likely need to replace the transponder unit that is located behind the ignition in the steering column.
It's possible that the anti-theft has nothing to do with it. During cranking, the starter sends back full battery voltage to the coil, to give a hotter spark. That's usually enough to start the engine. If the key is stuck in Acc, you probably aren't getting permanent power to the coil pack. Take care of the switch first, then see what happens. If it is the anti-theft replace the ignition cylinder which comes with passlock (150 at a wholesale GM part supplier). then do the password relearn procedure by holding key in on position for 11 minutes
GM uses a Pass-Key 2 anti-theft system during the 1990's which go out quite often. To disable the system turn the ignition key to the on position without starting the car. Wait 30 minutes and turn it off. Repeat these steps 2 more times. After doing this 3 times the system will be disabled and you can start your car.-or-Remove The Anti-Theft Fuse
You have to buy what is called a "Pass-Lock" system. It bypasses the factory alarm system. Good luck smokingallowed say's..... newrockies.com
You can not bypass the factory alarm. It is built into the computers on the car.
press valet then 0000 (4 zeros) it will deactivate it for 5 hours....theres a code somewhere that permantly deactivates it... but i cant find it....
Passlock is an theft deterrent system introduced by GM in 1996, designed to prevent vehicle operation if the proper ignition key is not used to start the vehicle (passlock wasnt used in s-series until the '98 model). The Passlock Anti-Theft system involves resistor codes which are generated by resistors located in the ignition key cylinder switch.
the anti theft device disables the car from starting. you should be able to pull a fuse on it, or by pass it, but until you do the car should not start.
Yes, I believe it uses GM's Pass Key II anti-theft system. Your local GM dealer will know for sure if you provide them with a VIN number.
