Yes, it will.
If you have spark a the coil but not the distributor, then the coil wire has failed.
An onboard diagnostic scan would be a good first place to look.
There is none. The engine ECM signals each spark plug coil when to fire.
Check to make sure your getting fire at the Distributor Cap, if not, then try replacing the cap and rotor button. If that doesn't work, you may need a new distributor.
check to see if battery is connected correctly. and correctly is positive cable to positive terminal
Have you checked the rotor inside the distributor. Had the same problem recently. Opened up the Distributor and the screw that holds the rotor was out and the rotor was cracked. Part costs about $8.00.

I would start with replacing the spark plug wires and spark plugs (if you did not do that for a while). If does not help check the coils or distributor depending on what you have.
Could be the distributor. That just happened to mines.
