What you probably did was spread the pads, couldn't get the right clearance, so you opened the bleeder valve, right? Either way, you lost fluid, now you need to bleed the brakes It sounds like your first time, so you'll need someone to help you. Start on the right side and open the bleeder valve, just a few turns. Let it hang until fluid starts dripping, then close the valve. Have your helper pump the brakes until she gets a pedal (a solid pedal, it won't go to the floor.) Push the pedal all the way and don't let up. Open the bleeded valve until the padal goes to the floor. Then keep the pedal down until you close the bleeder vaeve. Keep this process until you only have about 3/4" to 1 1/2" freeplay(until the brakes lock and the pedal won't go any further.) You may have to start at the right rear, then the left rear, then the right front and so on.
Keep checking the Master making sure your brake fluid is full.
ouch, are brakes adjusted correctly/ sit in vehical and pump pedal to get a full pedal, then hold pedal to see if it bleeds off and goes to floor,if it stays, replace shoes and pads if it goes to floor, there is a fluid leak somewhere is there brake fluid in the resevoir/ are there any brake fluid leaks ,check backside of wheels there is a brake fluid pump, on the chassis rail about level with the front of the front door on the left side.if this pump is bad your pedal will go to the floor
If you are losing fluid and the pedal is low, you have a brake fluid leak.
Something is impairing the brake pedal to go to the floor. Only a mechanic can tell you what is happening.
usually they will leak out the back by the booster, your brake pedal will slowly go to the floor at stops or the brake pedal will go right to the floor when pushed.
no you have a brake fluid leak somewere
Check the caliper slides (may be frozen) should slide freely to compensate for brake pad wear
brake light switch, it is typically located above the brake pedal somewhere on the brake pedal arm
when your brake pedal moves up and down when you press the pedal ,usually it is a warped brake rotor or a loose bearing on one or both brake rotors Warped front disk brake rotors.
probably have broken parking brake cable.
the switch needs to be adjusted
By the way it sounds, its not good. You probably need new brake pads, front and back, but for sure the front first if you need to save money. You may just need to put more brake fluid in,or what people call bleed your brakes, not sure how that's done.Maybe just press brake pedal down till the tension catches and the brake pedal is hard to push.If that happens then you know your brakes are catching.good luck.
All brake light sensors are switches connected to the brake pedal. its a switch that is mounted on the front of the pedal on the top.
