The most effective diet is actually a lifestyle change. Most important things to remember are: 1 Always eat within 10 minutes of waking up (even if it's only a yogurt cup), this will boost your metabolism up to five times! 2 Work out in the AM. When you work out before bed, you are only burning calories you ate all day..work outs in the morning you are burning stored fat! 3 Never eat within 2-3 hours before bed. IF you are hungry, drink water. This applies all day as well. Water is very filling and has no calories. 4 As the day progresses, your meals should become smaller. Not just portion size but by grams of fat, sugar and calories. Eat a large breakfast, smaller lunch, tiny dinner and definitely eat in betweeneach meal as this will also boost your metabolism. 5 You are welcome to eat sweets (there is a reason it is on the food pyramid guide). Keep in mind the nutritional values of what you are eating and the portion size. Do some research and find out how much you need to eat and how much you need to burn for your body in order to lose weight or maintain weight. Diets by Joanne Larson will help you tremendously. Google her name and you will find her site which allows you to fill out a form and it will give you instant results. I found this site, followed it as best I could and from April 2008 to today (February 7, 2009) I have now lost 52 pounds and a total of 17 inches and 5 jean sizes. I have been able to keep this weight off because I didn't just DIET then go back to bad habits, I actually changed my eating style. I still eat Pizza, Hamburgers and my favourite oreo cookies, but I watch my portions. From 186 to 134 lbs, I can guarantee this will help you if you follow it.

"Diets" don't typically offer long-term weight loss benefits. You may lose a lot of weight in a relatively short time, but as soon as you get tired of the diet and quit following it, your weight and excess body fat will come back.

Well. I tried jogging every day and cutting down on snacks but that didnt work. So I used slimquick and it worked it 1 whole week so that's what i prrefer.
