yes
Turn your car to the on position, to where your battery, abs, airbag lights come on and listen for a click from under your back seat, might have a hum to the click. If it does click your fuel pump is working.
check the wiring connections at the battery and the starter. Both places can give starting problems. The dash lights could be a separate problem. Check the fuses for the lights.
Every vehicle that I've experienced this problem in was due to the tail light fuse being burned out. This condition is because the tail lights and dash lights share a common fuse, which makes the dash lights act as an indicator as to whether or not your tail lights are working (although, this doesn't indicate whether the bulbs are good or not).
Many modern Subarus have a small rocker switch on top of the steering column to operate the parking lights with. This switch will operate the lights regardless of whether the key is in the ignition or not.
No they did not come factory equipped with daytime running lights.
If a Passat 04 TDI's indicator lights are not working, check the fuse. A blown fuse can cause the lights to stop working.
Your parking lights may not be working due to a blown bulb or fuse. If you have checked both you may need to see a mechanic to make sure there is not any electrical problems.
