On a 1994 Suburban what should the voltmeter read when running and when the engine is off?

Running, voltage should be around 13.5 VDC. It may be a little more but shouldn't be much less. Off, the voltage should initially be slightly over 12 VDC but will settle down to around 12 VDC after it sits for a while.
