chances are it's your starter solenoid. test current strength to see if power is getting past the solenoid to the starter.
it depends of what accessories or electronic devices that switched the battery terminals. for ex. starter motor it will reverse the circulation if you reverse the polarity
Blown fuse.
I tested mine by putting wires with alligator clips on the blower's terminals and touched the other ends to my battery.
yes the battery is still usable. look at the battery closely and see if there is any bloating or cracking or leaking anywhere. also check your main power wires to your fuse box, alternator, and starter and make sure u haven't blown any fuses or fuse links or burnt up any wires. if the pos and neg terminals were just touched together briefly then ur fine but if they were in contact for a while follow the above statement i made. hope everything is fine and good luck!
Probably not. A typical 1 pint leydon jar only has about 1nF of capacitance, and it would discharge far too fast for you to feel it.
you blew the main fuse look at the starter relay and replace that fuse
Check your starter wires. I crossed one of my wires on my old S-10 when I stuck a starter on it and it just kept turning over as I touched the wire to it. A wire is corroded or touching somewhere near it. At least that's what it was for me. Hope this helps and I'm not too late
no if you already touched it you keep it
becomes electric
Check all the wires that u touched, and if all is good, might have a problem in the new starter. That's a tight place to work. I have the same problem and I have change the starter for nothing.. The fuse blows sometime and don't blow other time... I will dismantle the wiring harness to be sure of the fact that I think that the wiring harness to the starter from the battery and the power distribution box, to be corroded or something else... I'll post the result of the exam here. Thanks Steph
Battery connections. The starter should NOT have been touched during the operation the battery had to have been removed. Make sure all your grounds and connections are corrosion free and properly installed. Lights is not an indication there is good contact from the battery. They need little contact to operate while the starter needs a fair amount of contact. Only other possiblity is the ignition switch, Clutch switch(if manual), or Park switch (if auto) is bad
Yes if it touched the positive battery post or a live terminal and a ground it would short out.
