While there are definitely a number of negatives to colonialism, there were most certainly a number of positives as well, many of which survive in one form or another today:

Architecture

Infrastructure (Road, rail, bridges, electricity, water supply and power generation)

Administration and legal systems

Education (Starting with missionary schools up to universities)

Medicine

Military infrastructures and training

Farming, Agriculture, food and textile production

Many of the peoples of Africa (not all) were at an early iron age cultural stage before Imperialism and they have been left with :

Medical services, a political and legal system, police, fire and military services, education, infrastructure services (water, electricity, railways, roads, buses), the modern cities of Africa, awareness of Africa's Natural Resources and development of markets for these, nature conservation (game parks), modern farms and farming techniques (although in may countries e.g. Zimbabwe these seem to have reverted to subsistence farming, the beginnings of a move away from inter tribal rivalries. (There were some down sides too but taken in the round imperialism probably did more good than harm - it was the speed with which it was demolished that caused problems).
