you need to get a harmonic balancer puller but make sure u get one with a narrow tip. take the right wheel off and the mud guard in the wheel well and take the bolt out with a impact gun if you don't have one remove the starterand put a large pry bar on the fly wheel and have some hold it while u break it free with a Johnson bar but be carefull not to damage the flywheel. then place the puller on the harmonic and a little bit at time tighten the puller. don't attempt to pry it off their is three crank sensors behind their if you break those your lookin at big bucks
With a harmonic balancer puller. Your local auto parts store can sell or rent you one.
You need a harmonic balancer puller, and a 1/2 in drive inpact wrench.
Harmonic balancers are located on the crankshaft, usually the belt side of the engine.
It is behind the harmonic balancer.
take off your harmonic balancer the answer is behind
Not too familiar with that engine, but never use a hammer to press it on. Go to your local Kragen, Shucks or autozone, they have a harmonic balancer installer in which you can rent. It simply screws into the center of the shaft and evenly presses the harmonic balancer onto the crankshaft.
behind the harmonic balancer
An impact wrench is commonly used in cases like this. You can also use a chain wrench in conjunction with a socket & breaker bar.
The Balancer on that 3800 has a special puller that you use to remove it. The only difference is that the bolts for the puller have a much smaller diameter than the regular off the shelf puller. Be careful not to thread the bolts into the threaded holes too far or you could damage the crankshaft position sensor "pick up" fins on the back side of the balancer.
Its under the harmonic balancer cover. You can see the wiring on the right (front) side of the cover. Pull the harmonic balancer to replace it, make sure you line-up the teeth right in the magnetic pick-up.
If your talking the main harmonic balancer on the crankshaft, you will need a puller to remove that. I can't think of any pulleys that would allow you to pull them off by hand. Your local autoparts store will have a removal tool for more than likely around 20-25 dollars.
Yes, all cars do. It is the crankshaft pulley assembly...the biggest pulley, typically, at the very bottom of the engine.
