if you have to ask; i would take the car to a qualified mechanic that you can trust and have him do it. if you're going to try and fix something yourself, start with something that is not so critcal as the brakes, like changing your own air filters and oil. Go on you tube and you'll find explanations of how to do any of these repairs before doing it yourself or get a good guide like "How To Repair Your Car" by Paul brand. There's also many good web sites and car furums for every make of car on the internet where you can read and ask questions of many gear heads and mechanics. Cars are getting more and more complicated and many newer models require special types of fluids, available only from the dealership. If you add the wrong type you may ruin the sytem or void your manufacturers warranty. Our 2008 Subarau was due for a transmission and differential flush and our garage said they cannot change it as Subaru will not sell them their specific Transmission Fluid. The dealer can also be very expensive as they wanted three hundred dollars to change our rear brakes. We went back to our garage and they said the rear brakes were fine and the front brakes only needed repalcment. The dealership must have figured they can make money by changing the good ones first so that we'd be back in a few weeks complaining they were still squeaking and then they would say the front brakes need replacing too, there by ripping us off twice! So beware; second opinions can never hurt...
