ps. this is on a K-R reg
4.3? Follow the spark plug wires from the spark plugs, they will lead you right to the distributor.
On top of the distributor. Follow the spark plug wires. They lead to the distributor.
If the coil is producing a spark then the HT lead between them is breaking down.
Faulty plug lead, and/or distributor cap,if applicable
On the 4.3L V6 the distributor is located in the back of the engine, in the middle. Just follow the spark plug wires and they will lead you to it.
The Toyota Camry used distributors in its engines up to 1996. Just follow the spark plug wires. They will lead right to the distributor.
Have you checked all of the High Tension leads from the distributor to the plugs, or just one or two? Same with HT lead from Coil to Distributor, Check Distributor cap for cracks
rotor should point at number 1 plug lead when engine is at tdc make a mark with whiteout ,on outside of distributor before you remove distributor cap. make this mark where the #1 spark plug lead would be if distributor cap was on distributor when you remove cap this is where rotor needs to be pointing
Assuming this is the 4.3L engine, the distributor cap would be found in the back of the engine on top. All the spark plug wires lead to it.
Bring your timing mark up to top dead centre then drop your distibutor in to the block linning up your rotor on the distributor to were your number one spark plug lead will sit make sure you have enough movement for advance and retard to make sure of this you have to bush the intake manifold all the way to the head if you dont have the movement you are one notch out on the distributor remove and re set if it doesnt fire up you are a 180 degres out so take your number one spark plug lead of and put it to were number six lead sits and work your timing out from there 1 5 3 6 2 4 firring order
check the connection to the coil to the battery and check your distributor
the firing order is usually marked on the engine block. the marking for the distributor can lead to being out 180°. I did that on a Rambler - had fire coming out the carb. Just turned it 180° and it was fine.
