Just EGR valve. It works with the exhaust to re-burn fuel. If it is not operating properly, the car will have a tendency to stall at idle, run rough, and not perform up to standard. Could be the valve stem is jammed due to carbon. You can try and clean it, or just replace it if that is the problem. Also check to make sure the vacum line is good.
Plugged EGR passage which restricts the flow of exhaust gasses, faulty EGR solenoid, faulty EGR solenoid wiring/harness, vacuum lines damaged or disconnected to the EGR valve solenoid or to the EGR valve, or a faulty EGR valve.
Carbon build up. Sticky or stuck EGR valve. Vacuum supply line damaged/leaking. Faulty EGR valve. Faulty EGR Position sensor/wiring.
Black smoke from the exhaust and rough idling are two of the more common problems. The egr valve can be removed and cleaned on most vehicles
A faulty IAC will cause stalling problems at idle. Most of the time if you hold the gas pedal down it will run fine. Be careful because these symptoms can come from an EGR valve that is stuck open aswell. If you have a fast idle i would look for a intake leak.
Yes.
A faulty or clogged egr valve can cause an engine to run rough. If stuck or clogged the valve can be cleaned after removal with carburetor cleaner.
Yes
P0400 - Exhaust Gas Recirculation Flow Malfunction Possible causes - Exhaust Gas Recirculation (EGR) solenoid valve harness is open or shorted - Exhaust Gas Recirculation (EGR) solenoid valve circuit poor electrical connection - Exhaust Gas Recirculation (EGR) volume control valve stuck closed - Faulty Exhaust Gas Recirculation (EGR) volume control solenoid valve - Dead (Weak) battery - Faulty EGR temperature sensor and circuit - Faulty EGR Valve
You can't really clean the EGR valve. If it's faulty, it simply needs to be replaced. -Jesse
what are the symptoms of a bad temperature switch
A bad EGR valve in a 2000 Saturn can have several symptoms. The EGR valve can cause misfires, the valve can cause vacuum leak style problems. There could also be an engine knock.
The exhaust gas recirculation (EGR) system has insufficient flow. It could be caused by the differential pressure feedback EGR sensor being faulty, there t is a blockage in the EGR tube (most likely from carbon buildup), the EGR valve is bad, or the EGR valve may not be opening.
