repair it or get a new one.
Any cracks that are in the pool, and if it leaks. See if you can get anyone to come out and inspect the pool.
There are just a few easy actions you need to take to get the water from your pump back into the pool. Before anything else, check that the pump is wired in and primed. Make sure there is nothing clogging up the pump basket. Find the pool's water return inlet and proceed to the next step. This is a fixture that is typically installed on the pool's wall. Pool hose of an appropriate length should be attached to the pump's discharge port. The pool's return inlet should be connected to the hose's opposite end. When you're ready, activate the pump. After a while, water should start trickling through the hose and into the pool. Check for leaks in the plumbing and make sure the water is flowing freely. If the water flow rate is too slow or too fast, you can adjust the pump's settings. Proper water circulation and filtration rely on routine pump and pool equipment maintenance.
Foam in a pool that uses Baquacil can have a leak in return hose. It can also be the result of putting too much product in the pool. You should check the chemical levels in the pool.
If you use water or garden hoses, then identifying a leaky hose is not difficult. All you have to do is seal the output end of the hose with a sprayer or cap and turn on the water. You will usually find the leaks as you will see water spraying out somewhere in the middle of the hose. Repairing a leaky hose is not too difficult. You can duct tape or electrical tape to seal the leaking parts of the hose. Please not that this a temporary solution and you should probably purchase a new hose if your does spring leaks.
If you want to know if your pool leaks. # Take a bucket of water from the pool. # mark the water level of the pool. # mark the water level in the bucket. # check to see how much the water has gone down after a couple of days in the pool and n the bucket. # If the level in the bucket is closer to the mark then the level in the pool there is water being lost some where. If there is no difference then there is no leak. The surface water on the bucket evaporates at the same rate as that on the pool, so the should stay the same.

Try these: Check hose for leaks. Check the seal between the hose and the skimmer, The rubber may be old and need replacing. Put your anti suction device in maintenance mode. If pool has two+ skimmers block the unused one with a ball (Tennis or whatever fits and sticks) Bleed air out of the filter if it has accumulated there. Good luck
It should work alright however the blanket may interfere a litle with the movement of the hose at the surface.
I have a Dodge Carivan. You should fill it up with water then check for leaks. It may be that you need a new hose. If so you can put on a new hose yourself. If you don't want to do that, you could take to some place like Pep Boys. They will check for leaks and put on a new hose if you need one.

I think it is a judgment call. I would not replace it until it leaks. On the other hand, it will probably fail during the swimming season. Consult your swimming pool profesional for a second and perhaps more reliable opinion.
submerge the hose in the pool first to get all of the air out, then attach to the skimmer.
