When they were displaced they would meet in any temple that was handy. When Pompey built his massive structure called the theater of Pompey, he had a meeting hall for the senate in it and they would meet there.

∙ 12y agoThe Roman senate did not meet in a marketplace; they met in a building which was located in or near the Forum Romanum, or the main civic center of Rome. They met in their own meeting house the "curia" when they had one. (The Curia burnt down several times over the years) When they did not have a permanent meeting place, they could meet in any temple or basilica that the consuls designated.
