No, there is no evidence of this. There is solid evidence that he has participated in the Christian faith since the early 1990s. According to Barack Obama's interviews and writings, he is a Christian and chose that religion himself; he was not "born into" any specific religion. He has said his mother was spiritual but not religious. His father left before he was old enough to practice religion, but, although his father was raised a Muslim, he was non-religious by that time-- in fact, he had become an atheist. His stepfather was from Indonesia, but has been described as very moderate in his views. When the president lived in Indonesia, he first attended a Catholic private school, and later a public school where Muslims, Christians, and Hindus (as well as some American children) also attended. The president has stated his step-father did not ask him to participate in any religion.

When the president moved back to Hawaii to complete middle school and high school, he lived with his maternal grandparents, who were Protestant Christians. But President Obama got more interested in religion when he moved to Chicago and fell in love with Michelle Robinson (later his wife). He wanted to have a religion in which to raise his children, and decided upon Christianity. It should also be noted that numerous internet myths say he was sworn in as president by using the (Qur'an) Koran. This is false, and video of the ceremony exists, showing he used a Bible. Further, the myth that his father raised him Muslim is false-- his father was no longer a Muslim by the time Mr. Obama was born, and did not participate in raising him.

No, as reported in vast publications, including this excerpt from the March 25, 2007 edition of the Chicago Tribune: ". . . initial reports have distorted the reality of the four years Obama spent in Indonesia, from 1967 to 1971. In fact, Obama's religious upbringing in Indonesia depended more on the conventions of the schools he attended than on any decision by him, his mother or his stepfather. When he was at a Catholic school for three years, he prayed as a Catholic.

When he was at a public school for a year, he learned about Islam.

Obama's stepfather, Lolo Soetoro, was much more of a free spirit than a devout Muslim, according to former friends and neighbors. And the school described as an Islamic madrassa in media reports actually was a public school, so progressive that [female] teachers wore miniskirts and all students were encouraged to celebrate Christmas. . ."

(The Kabba is the temple built to honor God by the prophet Abraham, praise be his name.) If Obama was a Muslim, it would fairly easy to get a photo of him on his prayer rug, bowing towards Mecca during one of the mandatory prayer times each day!

No, he is not. Contrary to internet myths, Mr. Obama was never raised a Muslim. His mother was a non-practicing Christian who raised him to respect all religions and cultures. His father was an atheist who had long since left Islam and never expressed an interest in having his son raised in any religion. Young Barack was mainly raised by his grandparents, who were Protestant Christians. He has said he was not very interested in religion until he met his future wife, Michelle. She was a Methodist, and he decided to join a Christian church because he wanted a place for them to marry and he wanted a religion in which to raise the kids they planned to have. There is no credible evidence that Mr. Obama is anything other than a Protestant Christian.

No he is not a Muslim

He is listed as member of the United Church of Christ if Obama was a Muslim congress would not be able to treat him any diffrent so when the press tries do dig any farther its all pointless all it does is give people false pretense tht he is a Muslim extremist

Another answer-

Obama's father(s) were Muslim. Under Islamic law he was born a Muslim. He now has stated many times his religion is Christianity. Were he to have stated Islam to be his religion from the beginning... he would not have been elected President. Despite his claims, the US is a Christian nation...

No, he did not. This is an internet myth. The president has said he has great respect for his Muslim relatives in Africa (whom he met when he was in his late 20s), but he has also said he has great respect for his maternal grandparents, who raised him in a Christian home. But the president has never practiced Islam, nor has he ever claimed he was Muslim.

No, contrary to various conservative websites, there is NO evidence Barack Obama was raised as a Muslim. He was raised mainly by his maternal grandparents, who were Protestant Christians. His biological father was born into Islam but left the faith and became an atheist long before Barack was born. His biological mother was a liberal Christian, not very religious, more of what we might call a Humanist. She raised him to respect all religions. Today, his family has members who are Christian, Buddhist, and Muslim, but there is no evidence President Obama was raised in the Muslim faith. In fact, even when he spent four years in Indonesia with his mother and step-dad, he attended a Catholic school and then a public school which to which diplomats of all religions sent their kids. President Obama and his wife Michelle attend Protestant churches, and their children are being raised as Protestants. (It is also worth noting that Michelle Obama's cousin is Jewish and a famous rabbi.)

Did Barack Obama have namaz?

I assume you are referring to the Muslim prayer Salat Namaz. Barack Obama is not a Muslim, and was not raised a Muslim. But his step-father was a Muslim and young Barack lived in Indonesia for four years. His step-father was not very religious, but living in a majority Muslim country, young Barack would certainly have been exposed to Muslim prayers. He has said in his writings that he was taught to respect all religious traditions. But he was raised by his maternal grandparents in Hawaii, and they were Christian, which is what he was raised to be.

Is Obama a Muslim?

No. President Obama does not profess to be a Muslim nor does he follow Muslim practices. His father was raised as a Muslim , as was his Indonesian step-fathers, but Barack Obama was not raised as a Muslim and after he became an adult, he and his wife joined a Christian denomination (United Church of Christ) in Chicago.

Is Obama Muslim because his middle name is?

Not at all. Barack Hussein Obama is not Muslim; he inherited his father's Muslim name because it was in his father's family. But President Obama was raised by his Christian grandparents and today is a practicing Christian.

Is Barack Obama secretly a Muslim?

He says that he holds to a Christian faith and has a record of attending Christian services. His secret beliefs , if any, are his own secret. His father and stepfather were Muslim, which may be how rumors of Obama's Muslim faith started. Obama was baptized at Trinity United Church of Christ in Chicago.

What state and city was Barack Obama raised in?

Kindergaten in Hawaii and primary education in Jakarta,Indonesia.

How many years was Barack Obama a practicing Muslim?

0. Barack Obama was raised Christian and still is Christian. He was never Muslim. Barack Obama's father and that family was Muslim, but as Barack grew up primarily with his mother he was not exposed to that as much.

Is bracka Hussein Obama jr his real name?

His real name is Barack Hussein Obama II. Obama is a devout Christian who was raised as a Christian. Obama had a Muslim paternal grandfather named Hussein (which is where the name comes from), however, Obama's father was raised Muslim but became an atheist by the time his wife Ann Dunham (a Christian) gave birth to Barack Obama.

Where is the picture of Barack Obama in his Muslim school uniform?

Since President Obama never attended a "Muslim school," there is no picture of him in any such uniform. Mr. Obama attended a Catholic school in Indonesia, and then a public school. After four years in Indonesia, he returned to Hawaii, where he attended an elite private school, the Punahou School, from which he graduated in 1979.

Does barack Obama have religious ties with Islam?

No, he does not. Internet myths about this are 100% wrong. President Obama was born in Hawaii, to a non-practicing Christian mom. But he spent four years in Indonesia, where he was raised among moderate Muslims, so he has a much warmer impression of Islam than most Americans, who only hear about Muslims as terrorists on the news. But he was never raised a Muslim, nor was he ever a student at a Muslim religious school. His religious background was always Christian, and that is how his grandparents raised him. He was married in a church and is raising his daughters as Christians, plus he and his family attend a Christian church in Washington DC. But he has also said many times that his mom raised him to respect other faiths, and he has fond memories of the Muslim friends he made when he lived in Indonesia as a child.

What religion was Barack Obama raised?

He has said he was raised with no religion-- his mother was a non-practicing Christian, and his father, a non-practicing Muslim, left the family when Mr. Obama was still a baby. His step-dad was a moderate Muslim from Indonesia, but did not try to raise him in that faith; Mr. Obama attended a Catholic school and then a public school in that country. In Hawaii, where he returned to live with his grandparents (who were Protestant Christians), he also did not seem to have very much contact with religion, although ethics and respect for all faiths were taught to him. He was nominally raised with Christian customs, but did not seem to become interested in Christianity till later in his life.

Barack Obama's father background?

His father is originally from Kenya and met Berry's (Barack's) mother in Hawaii. When he was two his father left and Berry's new father figure was his Muslim step father from Indonesia. FYI he was raised Muslim for those who were unsure. He did however join the United Church of Christ for political reasons.

Was Barack Obama raised in Africa?

No, President Obama was not raised in Africa. But his father, who had the same name, was from Kenya. President Obama had never visited Kenya till the late 1980s, and he did make a trip there to meet his relatives from his father's side of the family, but the president was mainly raised in Hawaii (except for four years he spent in Indonesia as a child).
