well could be throw out bearing gone, cable broke, probably worn out clutch.Check to see if clutch has oil resv. for manual clutch, slight possibility it is out of fluid if never been topped up.
You need a new clutch
If we are talking about a standard shift transmission, the clutch may be out of adjustment or if it is hydraulic operated, out of hydraulic fluid because of a leak.
the clutch is burnt up. buy a clutch kit check your slave cylinder for leaks, its bolted on the side of transmission,if its leaking ,replace,if not ,then it could be u need a new clutch.
The cable/linkage between the shift lever and transmission is likely broken or disconnected
if it is not going into gear when it is started, if it is a standard transmission then it could be that your clutch is not engaging or that your gears are stripped in the caseing of the transmission, if it is an automatic then your torque converter could be bad or there is something wrong with the shift linkage
It might be that your clutch is not disengaging properly, so your gears won't shift.
