She didn't establish the church her father did. He established the Church of England.
She didn't establish it, and she didn't shape it. What she did, during her reign, was make it secure and permanent. The CofE was officially established by Elizabeth's father, Henry VIII when he broke with Rome in order to divorce Catherine of Aragon. The break was initially more of a political one than a religious one, though. Henry named himself head of the church in England and confiscated RC possessions, but did not make any major changes in dogma. The strong Protestant shift came during Edward VI's reign, led by Archbishop Cranmer. After Mary I's reactionary (and violent) shift back to Catholicism, Elizabeth settled easily back into the Protestant course set by her brother, also supporting Protestantism elsewhere in Europe. She resisted moving against English Catholics, though, except when they plotted against her (especially attempts to dethrone her in favor of Mary Stuart).
yes. while catholicism was the religion of the country, she went to mass, but when she ruled, she made the church protestant. she was known as the protestant princes. she was accepting of other religions too.
Before Elizabeth I's Father came into power England was Roman Catholic, then when King Henry VIII (Elizabeth's father) became King, he made up the religion of Protestant (Church of England) (just so he could divorce or annul his marriage to Catherine of Aragon who was Elizabeth's half sister Mary I's mother) When King Henry Died he passed the throne on to his son Edward VI who carried on the Protestant religion. When he died Mary I became Queen and changed England back to Roman Catholic (this caused a religious divide.) When She died Queen Elizabeth I came into power, and she reestablished the Church of England (protestantism.)
Yes, Queen Mary I returned England to the Catholic faith after her brother, King Edward's death. Queen Elizabeth returned it to the Protestant faith in 1558 upon her coronation.
