The Republic of Iraq was established in 1958 from the Kingdom of Iraq, which has achieved independence from Britain in 1924. South Yemen achieved independence from Britain in 1967 and unified with North Yemen in 1990. Bahrain achieved independence from Britain and the Arab emirates in 1971. Qatar achieved independence from Britain in 1971. The United Arab Emirates achieved independence from Britain in 1971.
