Hi, I just had a left front wheel bearing replaced on my '02 Silhouette. Symptoms that the part needed to be replaced include: --Whirring noise coming from faulty bearing while driving --Noise increases when turning steering wheel to opposite side of bad bearing (e.g., moving wheel to right with a bad left bearing) --No noise while vehicle is stopped Parts could cost up to $250 depending where it's purchased and who manufactured it. Labor is about 2 hours since wheel and disk brakes have to be removed and re-installed. Hope this helps
Remove tire, install spare which has an open center hole allowing access to axle nut, remove axle nut (33mm socket), remove spare, remove caliper, remove rotor, remove hub/bearing assembly, install new hub/bearing assembly, and so on in reverse order.
The front wheel bearings and hub come as one piece. The bearings alone are not serviceable.
The front wheel bearing assembly is not repairable. A new wheel bearing assembly is replaced as a complete unit. Your local auto parts store can supply you with a new bearing assembly.
you have to remove the whole headlamp assembly to get to the turn signal bulb pull the headlight assembly straight out it is fairly easy There are two wing nuts on top of the unit that must be removed.
Well its a wheel bearing hub assembly that you need to buy. Autozone has a Timken/Wheel Bearning/Hub Assembly-front its $79.99 and they have the Duralast/Wheel Bearing/Hub Assembly-Front $51.99
Put a potato in the exhaust pipe.
First remove wheel and brake caliper and rotor. Unplug wheel speed sensor wire. Remove axle nut. Remove three 1/2 inch head bolts from back side of spindle. Gently tap hub to remove hub/bearing assy. from spindle. Installation is the reverse.
Are a part of the hub assembly on the front Cost @ 400+ to repair one side! Rears are more like a traditional drum brake system type Haven't had to replace those
Using new bolts, torque the front hub/bearing assembly to 96 ft-lbs.....
it is on the passenger side at the front under the hood next to radiator
standing at front of vehicle look straight to the back top of motor,
To replace the front bearing, jack up front and remove the wheel.Remove the brake caliber assembly and pads. The brake caliber guide ,held in place by 2 bolts that is bolted to the hub assembly has to be removed in order to remove the rotor.Remove the 3 bolts which hold the wheel bearing to the hub assembly, from the backside.Remove the 35mm axle nut using an inpact drill or strong arm.Tap the axle out of the assembly and the bearing assembly should come out from the front.
