Advantages of Breastfeeding:
Breastfed babies are less likely to:
Breastfeeding lowers baby's risk of:
Babies who are breastfed are more likely to have a higher IQ, better overall health, and are less likely to be hospitalized during childhood!
Disadvantages of breastfeeding:
It must be done correctly or it could cause painful (but easily preventable) problems
It may be more difficult for women who work full time because they have to take breaks to pump their milk
A few diseases can be transmitted through breastmilk, such as HIV and Hepatitis
Sometimes breastfeeding can be tiring or stressful
Some harmful things can be passed on to the baby during breast feeding, such as viruses (HIV and hepatitis B), and medication and drugs, such as alcohol.
(Breast milk is produced from the mother's bloodstream, so, in a sense, whatever the breastfeeding mother consumes, the baby gets. However, there are differences of opinion with regard to what substances mothers should avoid while she is breastfeeding.)
It can be painful (leaving the nipples sore) and stressful. Some women may find it embarrassing.
In my opinion, there are still more advantages than disadvantages to breastfeeding.
Bottle feeding and breast feeding both provide adequate nutrition for growing babies and neither is harmful. Breast feeding allows the mothers antibodies to protect the baby until the baby stops breast feeding all together, at which time the baby will have a more advanced immune system and be able to better protect himself. It's free! But, only mom can do it. Breast pumps are convenient, but expensive. After breast feeding for a long time, some babies don't like to switch over to the bottle. However, breast milk provides the perfect balance of nutrition for babies. Bottle feeding is convenient (you can give the baby a bottle anywhere!) and anyone can feed the child if the mother is not available. However, bottle feeding is expensive and the baby won't get the mothers antibodies. Formula available is specially created the closely mimic the make up of human breast milk, but it's not exact. It is derived from cow's milk, so a family with a history of lactose allergies should consider hypo allergenic formula.
Can't think of any, unless you like being fat ... breastfeeding slims you down post pregnancy pretty quick. It doesn't change your breasts - those change during pregnancy. It's only a disadvantage to mother's who don't want to spend time with their babies, and don't want the responsibility of caring for their baby - b/c with formula you can drop your baby off with anybody and it can be fed.
the advantags of brestfeeding are that your baby will likely have a stronger bond with the mother and excell in school rather than a kid bottle fed there are many positives to brestfeeding. Hope this helped.
I don't think there are any disadvantages. what a medically fragile baby such as a preemie needs the most is the best possible nutrition and immunization possible. And the only place for a baby to get the very best is from its mothers breast. Additionally, the premature baby also needs the bonding and closeness that breastfeeding provides.
Breastfeeding is the way nature intended us to feed our baby's.

- Breastfeed baby's tend to be less fussy eaters later in life
- Breastfeed baby's are less likely to be obese
- Some research has suggested that women who breastfeed are less likely to get Breast cancer
In my opinion, I am not sure there are any disadvantages to breastfeeding. However, there are some blocks that can make it difficult for some women.
Blocks include:
- Breastfeeding can be difficult to start with as it does not necessarily come naturally to everyone
- Breastfeeding can hurt to start with (cracked nipples, engorgement and blocked ducts are just a few side effects in the early stages of breastfeeding)
- A small minority of women may not be able to breastfeed and have issues with milk supply
- Breastfeeding in public is not always easy. A women can face judgement and feel intimidated in some environments
- Weening your baby can be difficult
- A breastfeed baby needs to be feed more often compared with a bottle feed baby
you can leave your baby more often as anybody can bottle feed them
Advantages for breastfeeding is that it is free and they can get more antibodies that support the immune system for a healthy baby.
Disadvantages are that its a pain.
