1.Antigua and Barbuda (one independent nation, Independence Day 1st November)ne inde

2. Dominica (is in the South Caribbean- Independence day is 3rd November)

3. Grenada (is in the South Caribbean. Independence Day is 7th February

4. St. Kitts and Nevis (enjoys a Federal Government but is an independent nation. Independence Day is September 19th)

All of the above are independent nations and are in no way connected with America. They are all members of CARICOM.

The US Virgin islands (St Thomas, St Croix and St John), Puerto Rico are Caribbean islands but not separate nations

1. Antigua

2. Barbuda

3. Dominican

4. Grenada

5. St. Kitts

==========

  1. Cuba
  2. Antigua and Barbuda (two islands but one independent nation)
  3. Haiti (the island of Hispaniola is divided between Haiti and the Dominican Republic)
  4. Dominican Republic (the island of Hispaniola is divided between Haiti and the Dominican Republic)
  5. Jamaica
  6. Barbados (considered part of the West Indies in the Caribbean Basin - but arguably not in the Caribbean Sea)
  7. Dominica (considered part of the West Indies in the Caribbean Basin - but arguably not in the Caribbean Sea)
  8. Grenada
  9. Saint Lucia (considered part of the West Indies in the Caribbean Basin - but arguably not in the Caribbean Sea)
  10. St. Kitts and Nevis (two islands but one independent nation)
  11. Trinidad and Tobago (considered part of the West Indies in the Caribbean Basin - but right on the edge of the Caribbean Sea - so maybe not a Caribbean island)
  12. Bahamas (Independent country but part of the British Commonwealth)
You could reasonably eliminate Barbados, Dominica, Saint Lucia, and Trinidad & Tobago from the list, but you still wind up with more than 5 Caribbean island nations.
