USS Nevada - heavily damaged, beached to prevent sinking
USS Arizona - destroyed
USS Tennessee - damaged
USS West Virginia - very heavy damage, sank upright, later raised and refitted
USS Maryland - damaged
USS Oklahoma - sank (capsized), later raised, but sank while being towed.
USS California - damaged, sank upright, later raised and refitted
USS Pennsylvania - damaged
(Also present and damaged was USS Utah, which was a former battleship that was being used as a target ship. The Japanese pilots mistook her for an aircraft carrier at first.)
Only 4 battleships were and 2 of them were later raised and served in the war. The 8 battleships were : * USS Arizona (still at the bottom of the harbor), * USS Oklahoma (still at the bottom of the harbor), * USS West Virginia, * USS California, * USS Nevada (the only ship that tried to get out of the harbor), * USS Pennsylvania, * USS Maryland, * USS Tennessee. In the Navy, to be considered sunk a ship has to be fully under water. Pearl Harbor was so shallow when the Japanese attacked that the turrets of the ships that were hit where still sticking out of the water. So, in that technical sense, no ships were actually sunk
The USS Utah (AG-16) and the USS West Virginia (BB-48) were the two ships at Pearl Harbor
