Military Science: Know the difference between total war, limited war, and police actions. Then plan "that" war accordingly. WWI and WWII were total wars (no rules (generally speaking) all out fight to win, including the use of atomic weapons). Korea and Vietnam were limited wars, all fighting had to occur within certain boundaries, no "ATOMIC" weapons could be used, no chemical weapons, no bombing of certain targets that MIGHT WIDEN THE WAR. "Police Actions" are localized military operations against guerilla/insurgent forces that are violating international peace and order. Now...make plans according to the type of military action that is to take place. This is one lesson from the Vietnam War.
Laos may not be as industrialized as Vietnam is; Vietnam learned much from the US.
We won.
Korean War & Cuban Missile Crisis. Both brought the issue of atomic weapons to the fore front. Vietnam didn't, because the lessons learned from those two experiences were applied to Vietnam...(that's why North Vietnam wasn't invaded).
They Went through harsh times.
No- you did not get to choose, you had to go. If they said for you to go, you got to go but you had to be 18 or older. TRUST ME- I'M IN 6TH GRADE AND I JUST LEARNED ABOUT THE VIETNAM WAR!!
After a war, people in poverty "often" will regain there foothold on living standards by learning from their observations learned during the war. They will put "lessons learned" to use.
The only big lesson learned was North Vietnam was not invaded. During the Korean War, N. Korea was invaded; that brought in Red China. That strategy was not repeated in the Viet War.
The lesson learned was "look before you jump."
They did what they always did after fighting a war (in the 20th century); trained for the next one (often studying lessons learned from the past war).
the war was both we are doing our history day project on Vietnam and it has to be about debate and diplomacy and it is both because we just learned and discussed this in class. Made by; Will S and Brian A 8th graders
As did GEN Norman Schwarzkopf, who served in the Vietnam War, GEN Colin Powell applied what he learned in Vietnam to, "Operation Desert Storm", in 1991; which resulted in complete victory, and the lowest US casualties (and actually lower than that) since the Spanish-American War of 1898; which was nicknamed the, "Splendid Little War".
He learned his lesson because of some painful experiences
