Forgetting to throw the switch.
Answer #2Sometimes the control panel burn out, which causes power failure to the lights. Sometimes the signal switch becomes damaged. There are other problems that can cause traffic light failures but the most common reason is the bulbs burned out. Finally, you may wish to test your fuses.
I have a 2000 olds alero and the signal light only work sometimes, What would cause that?
head lights won't work, no power to them, signal works , reverse lights work
You will need to check the ground wires. A loose ground wire can cause the lights to work sometimes and sometimes not to work.
Most likely turn signal flasher
have you checked the fuses?
There are separate fuses for trailer signal lights in main fuse panel
Check the tail light ground wires.
it is most likely a fuse or at worst the turn signals and stop lights work through the turnsignal switch
Fuse
A defective brake light switch could cause the problem. Also a defective turn signal switch could also. The brake lights work through the turn signals. It cancels the brake light so that the turn signal can work.
Look for either a blown fuse or replace flasher unit for the signal lights (it is separate from the hazard lights flasher unit).
The whole turn signal arm unit needs to be replaced
