The Passlock security system is the problem. Should be recalled. Go here http://newrockies.com/?ap_id=craigpeate for a module to bypass the system completely. The resistor workaround at the key isn't always the only problem. I tried it on my 99 Suburban and it didn't do any better with the resister bypass. You need to eliminate the entire security system. Buy the pro module for $179 plus shipping and save yourself the hassle of dealing with it ever again. Or you could go to the dealer and have them replace the entire system for over $1000. They will have to replace the key/tumbler/hall effect switch/wiring and EVO-Passlock module to get it right.
Prior answer:
the key is worn out and neededs to be reprogramed to theft module. turn ing on with out starting for ten mins. then off and on it should program key i think. the dealer should also tell you the right way to do this. very common problem.
If the computer and the security system is not communicating correctly the security light will come on in a 1999 Chevy Suburban. Starting the car with a spare key may offer a quick fix.
You can do it with a scanner. Usually when the security light is flashing it means there is a problem with the passlock system. Dealer item and about $500.00-$700.00 to replace parts & reprogram.
depending on the year you can disconnect the positive battery cable for a few minutes and then reconnect it. it may reset the security system.
I have a 2000 olds alero and the signal light only work sometimes, What would cause that?
Suburban Light was created on 2000-11-28.
You need to have it checked for codes to know what the cause of the code is.
your throttle body could be sticking i'd start by cleaning that
turn the ignition switch on (all the lights in dash light up) but do not crank engine. leave on for half hour untill security light goes off. turn off ignition, wait 30 seconds then start engine.
Be sure the dome light switch is not turned on manually.
Tampering or replacing ignition that does not match up with your key will cause your security to shut your car down.
It has a red light. Sometimes. IF you can see it. Which you frequently can't. It is best to assume security cameras are on 24/7, because in almost all cases - they are.
you got to replace to light bulbs
