If the Avalanche is anything like a 2003 Chevy Silverado, you can program the door locks as follows: 1. With vehicle off, Pull back the High Beam headlight lever (High Beams are on) 2. Turn ignition key on and off twice (ON, OFF, ON, OFF) , then release the headlight lever. Your vehicle should respond my locking or unlocking the doors. 3. You can now PROGRAM your locks by pressing a three button code, using the unlock/lock buttons on your driver door. Your manual should have details of the buttons you should press. For example, Press Lock, Unlock, Unlock, - and your code will tell your when to unlock, or to unlock at all. Here are some of the possible Combinations (A and B) A - Do not Lock Doors Lock All doors When Vehicle Is Started Lock All doors When Vehicle is placed in DRIVE Lock All doors when Vehicle reaches speed of 5mph. + B Do not unlock doors Unlock Drivers side door only - when placed in park Unlock all doors - when placed in park Unlock Drivers side door only - when key is removed from ignition Unlock All doors- when key is removed from ignition. These are a few examples, that can be programmed by pressing the unlock/lock buttons (three times).. If you don't have your manual, then you can try random combinations. Once you enter your 3 button combination, the vehicle exits programming mode. You can now start the vehicle and test the locks. Or: Repeat the process.

I have an 04 Durango Limited...and my key fob does in fact unlock the rear lift gate. You either have to hit the unlock button 2 or 3 times to get it to unlock the rear lift gate...but it should do it.....mine does. I think pressing unlock once unlocks the 2 front doors....twice unlocks the rear doors...and a third time unlocks the lift gate.
Possible the system is deactivated. 1. Sit in the driver seat, turn the key on. 2. Hit the unlock doors button 3 time (within 5 sec of each other). 3. Turn the key off and hit the unlock 3 times again. You should get a chirp from the horn. If this does not solve your problem, you can try the same proceedure but hit the Lock button Vs the unlock button
For Security so as nobody can jump in uninvited while you are getting yourself comfortable. Try pushing the button 2 or 3 times to unlock all doors.
With the doors unlocked, turn the ignition key on the 96 Bronco from of to run and back to off five times in ten seconds, ending in run position. The doors should lock then unlock, indicating the vehicle is in program mode. Press any button on the remote, and the doors should lock then unlock. The system should now be programmed and ready for use.
if your doors are locked and someone broke in the starter will be shut off. if you have this problem usually you lock and unlock then unlock 4 times with the key in drivers door and that will reset it or some cars turn ignition on and off 3 times and that will reset it also.
