car can be started an does run fine.
Could be as simple as being in need of a tune up.
Please supply engine type/size and whether auto/manual trans. If you are talking about the manual transmission model, the switch is located on the bracket holding the clutch pedal.Since it is activated by depressing the pedal it is situated at the base of the pedal where it pivots and can be adjusted by loosening a screw in the back to make it more or less sensitive. But remember, this is a safety feature so think twice before making any changes. For the automatic model, the switch is located on the transmission case itself where the gear shifter is connected.Jack up the vehicle safely, ask a friend to move the gear shifter up and down thru park, drive, etc. and look at the side of the transmission housing: the switch is located in a plastic case where the manual gear lever causes the transmission to shift. There may be two or more wires hooked up to it.
Can be old fluids. You should change it every 50,000. -ALL of it, not just the pan. It could have a broken or stuck accumulator.
it could be the seal around the tube were it meets the transmission it should look like a little top hat or a simple o ring the seal may swell when engine is running and when you shut your truck of it lost the pressure in there causing it to leak
It wasn't properly cured & certainly wasn't properly sealed.
I had this problem, I had a faulty TPS sensor
Could be a frozen clutch pack. Time for a transmission rebuild.

The Neutral Safety switch This is a part found on all cars with automatic transmissions. It prevents the starter from engaging if the transmission is in any gear other than 'Park' or 'Neutral'. It also turns on the back-up lights when the transmission is shifted into "reverse". It can get out of adjustment or fail.
Your transmission could be low on fluid or your bands inside your transmission are bad and need to be replaced.
It's probably a worn or damaged hydraulic pump or worn or damaged seals... unless it's just plain out of fluid.
Could be as simple as being in need of a tune up.
If it has an automatic transmission, I'd check the neutral safety switch. It should be acivated by the shift leaver or the linkage. If it has a standard transmission, I would check the safety switch activated by the clutch pedal.
it could be a number of things but the usual causes are the neutral safety switch or an "open" in the starting circuit or simply a bad conection,at battery or starter. Try putting your vehicle in neutral and then try turning it on.if is manual transmission instead of the neutral safety switch it would be the clutch start switch.
transmission cooler
Faulty transmission Pan gasket
Sounds like the neutral safety switch that is on the drivers side of the transmission.
