No freon, the system has a sensor switch that only comes on when the pressure is up... I recommend "A/C for DUMMIES" available at a parts store, and comes with Freon... Everyone should have a manual for their vehicle, and a professional shop manual should be available at your local library, just make copies of the right pages, as they are usually REFERENCE only...read up and good luck :)

Jumped directly from the relay? Bad compressor clutch, bad relay, low or excess refrigerant.

Make sure that there is power getting to the ac clutch when the switch is jumped. If the power is there then the clutch is bad and needs to be replaced.

You need to locate the switch on the evaporator canister that is located on the passenger side firewall. IT should look like a large can wraped in foam. Unplug the switch and jump it with an insulated wire. It should engage the clutch on the compressor when jumped.
