this was my question, so now that I have solved the problem I will share my information, might help someone else. I checked to see if I had fire to the plugs, I did not so then checked the coil pack no fire there either, traced the wire harness back to the cruise control unit and found that the wires had corroded and broke, replace the terminals on the wire ends and waalaa we are running again. Cost about 2.00 and a couple of hours of wire checks....
Yes. I had this problem on a 2000 Grand Cherokee. The problem came without any warning that I could notice. I parked it at night and the next morning it would crank and crank but not start. - I would imagine that his problem could happen gradually if the sensor had a broken lead wire or was gradually failing. In my case it was immediate and complete failure.
bad crank sensor
Where is the crank sinsor on a 98 ford explorer sport
problably your crank positioning sensor, on the front of motor, behind crank pulley. about a $40.00 dollar part. good luck
when my camshaft sensor was going bad, the vehicle refused to crank after being driven and parked for a few minutes. If you wait a little while it may crank. I heard of people pouring water on the sensor casing to crank them also.
underneath the rear of the truck - lets down with a crank
do you have gas in the tank
I had this problem repaired today on my 2000 Jeep Grand Cherokee Laredo. The signs I had were: 1. Jeep was running fine, Parked it in the garage. 2. The next morning it would crank fine but would not start at all. - As my fuel was low at the time I assumed I was out of fuel but after filling it that proved not to be the problem. - In the years I have had the jeep it often takes two attempts to start the vehicle. That symptom seemed to come and go and I cannot directly attribute that to the Crank sensor problem but, it may be of use as background information.
mass air flow sensor
the crankshaft sensor is located behind the crank pulley. the bottom pulley
What causes it not to crank? First thing to look at is the battery. Have it tested to see if it is working as it should. Most times, if its not cranking at all, its the battery.
use a diganotstic tool to see why the computer is sending a fault it may be your crank-positon sensor
