What could cause your 1993 Lexus SC400's radio to fade out after you turn it on?

Old Skool would ask if it's an alternator problem. New Skool would ask if the antenna wire has been cut, spliced, repaired, or replaced. Did anyone put an aftermarket stereo system in and damage the antenna wire? Feed back on a sound system usually comes from interference due to a bad cable or merely running electric wires too close to audio wires.

Can you change an AM radio to an FM radio?
Not easily enough to make it worthwhile. It's something like
changing a Ford into a Lexus.
You could do it, but it would be faster, easier, and cheaper to
buy the Lexus, and you'd have

radio that power the speakers. Be aware that removing the radio on
a LEXUS it may not work afterward because of a memory code
installed into the radio to make inpossible to steal it.
