The only two colonies that the Netherlands held up until the moment of independence were Suriname and Indonesia. However, there are several swathes of land that Netherlands colonized before said territories were taken away by a different colonizer, such as parts of Guyana, Brazil, the New York area, southern India, Taiwan, and numerous coastal cities in Africa and along the Indian ocean coast.
