Not all Buddhist practise in open or public groups so they may not be visible from the outside. Often census data can provide helpful information on a country by country basis. It seems that the number of Buddhists in Europe is doubling every ten years, although this is from a very low base figure. As far as I know the only European country where Buddhism is the state religion is Kalmykia.
