Germany and Italy helped Nationalist Franco Forces in the Spnish Civil War 1936-1939 (Before World War 2)

While Germany attacked France by the North East in 1940, Italy attacked by surprise the South of France in an unprepared Operation that failed.

In 1941 Italy alone attacked Greece in intense fighting that led to a failure because of the logistic problems.Germany helped Italy arrasing Greece in weeks.

After the surrender of Greece Germany attacked Crete in Operation Merkur and Italy aided unloading a 2,300 strong force by the east of the island.

In operation Barbarossa a small contigent of Italy,Finland, Romania helped Germany in various battles against USSR.

While all this happened in Europe, in Africa Italy offered great logistic and supplies aid to Rommels Africakorps to fight Britain. Italian Soldiers especially Paratropes and Frogg men showed that the Italian Army was not an Army of cowards as British Propaganda showed. In the Battle fo Rome and Invasion of Italy ,this country played an defensive roll against Allies.

When Italy surrendered some factions joined the Allied lines like the Partisans that captured Mussolini. Italy played a medium role in the Axis force but was more productive by aiding in supplies and lending terrain for Germans operations and forces in the Desert war.

Germany also invaded:

Norway - April 9th, 1940 Denmark - April 9th, 1940 Belgium - May 10th, 1940

And the most important - the invasion that started WWII - Poland was invaded Sept. 1st, 1939

WW2's most important mission/landing was D-Day
