The Australians gave their lives for the War. They fought in Australia, Southeast Asia, Africa, the Pacific theater, Europe, and in the Italian campaign. They home front people donated their time and efforts for their soldiers. They donated blood, helped with the Red Cross and nurses went to the war front or worked in the hospitals to deal with war wounded. Many people donated their hotels, homes and businesses for military use. The New Zealanders did the exact same thing. They also entertained troops in their homes and other places.
Easy, think about it - without World War 1, World War 2 would never have happened...! Therefore, WW1's contribution to history was WW2...!

I should think it was quieter and sadder for many countries that participated in World War 1, but for Australia with its small population, and World War 1 being its first major overseas conflict it was a disillusioning experience. In World War 2 Australia answered the call, but the enthusiasm had been worn off by the memories of World War 1.
The war after world war 2 in which Australia participated was the Korean war.
Australia joined the first world war in 1914
Australia fought alongside Britain and it's empire, Russia, America, Canada, France and i think Japan
Australia has not had a war. The country has been involved with other wars around the world, but Australia has not had a civil war.
