Since I don't want to take several years telling you all she did , I will give you the condensed version , you should research her later . She switched the national religion of England from Catholicism , the religion under the tyrant Mary , to Protestantism , the religion of herself and her father , Henry VIII . Also , she pretty much started off the Renaissance by starting up theaters , literature , art , and general fun - sports , and a fashion revolution . She also encouraged her privateers , [ some of my ancestors , believe it or not ] , which were pirates , but they had families, went to church , and were great guys . However , they weren't saints , they robbed for the Queen , from the Spanish , and captured slaves . I feel guilty I am descended from slave capturers , because I have African-American friends descended , probably , from the slaves they captured , that probably , somehow ended up here . Near the end of her life , there was a threat from the Spanish - an armada , nicknamed the Invincible Armada . The English were severely outnumbered , and there was no possible way they could win - or so it seemed . The weather was too much for the clumsy ships , destroying some , fire ships [ ships on fire ] destroyed only a small fraction , and the English outmaneuvered the rest , pretty much . But Elizabeth didn't know she was safe . She went to Tilbury , ready to fight , wearing a silver breastplate , and a white velvet dress , and there she gave the pep talk of a lifetime ! LOOK IT UP !!!!!!!! She didn't have to die for her people , or even shed a drop of ; the enemy never came.
Not long later , Her Majesty died , only several years later . It's a tragic end , but you must read it , it shows you her strength , arrogance , bravery , and faith . After you get to know her , it might just break your heart . She was a truly great Queen .
