The Soviet Union (Russia) supplied the SAMs, MiG-21 interceptors, Training for their pilots (in the Soviet Union), T54 & PT76 tanks. The only difficulties encountered may have been when Soviet (Russian) seamen may have come under US Air bombardments when US Air Strikes hit Haiphong Harbor or SAM sites ringing Hanoi (the North Viet capital).

Red China supplied the MiG-17's (J5 versions) and MiG-19's (J6 versions) and the training that went with them (in Communist China).

No effect on the Soviets (Russians); they just had to keep up the supply of SAM missiles and MiGs (plus the spare parts, fuel, and ammo for them).
