read or write (only if they knew how, which was rare at the time)
go to events like fairs, church socials, tournaments, and so on
engage in certain sports (these would be things like horse-racing, Fencing, foot-racing jousting and so forth)
go fishing or hunting
The children had simple toys to play with: dolls, balls, and other things like that. They'd also play things like tag or hide-and seek, and they also played various string games similar to cat's cradle.

∙ 9y agoOne of the main things that people did for entertainment in Elizabethan London was to attend plays. There was some concern about the plague spreading in theaters, but because Queen Elizabeth loved plays, many theaters were built anyway and plays were a regular event at all of them.
