They took a hike. John Lansing and Robert Yates walked out of the Constitutional Convention leaving Alexander Hamilton with a voice on the floor but no vote on the acceptance or rejection of the new US Constitution. (Because of the Convention rules two delegates were required to vote Yay or Nay on the product or the State had no vote. Lansing and Yates had nullified New York's vote by their absence,) Hamilton signed the Constitution but in effect, New York had an equal voting block with Rhode Island which did not even attend. For the sake of America Hamilton's voice was heard but he had no vote on the Conventions efforts.
The "original" intention of at least some of the delegates was to "amend" or "improve" the Articles because of the weaknesses of the Confederation (e.g. no elected executive, no taxing power, no standing armed forces, uncoordinated court systems). These made the function of the central government (actually just Congress) difficult and sometimes impossible. After discussions began, the delegates began to see that rewriting the Articles to address these problems was not going to work. What was needed was an entirely new framework for the federal government, unimpeded by the old one. So they began to devise the new US Constitution, based on proven historical models.
Yes he was. He sat in the famous rising sun chair. The story goes that at the front of the room there was a special desk for the president of the convention, and behind the desk was a chair with a sun on it. Benjamin Franklin at the end of the convention said that he had often wondered whether the chair was a rising or setting sun, and that he now realized that it was a rising sun.
For much the same reasons the North Americans fought for independence from the monarchic rule of Great Britain. Going forwards as against going backwards or staying put: revolution as against reaction.
well they were going to but the majority of people in NI didnt want a change...
by going things
Caucuses. The delegates all attend the national party convention at the end of summer/beginning of fall and formally cast their votes for the candidates they already pledged their vote to. Candidates often drop out as the primaries go on if they feel they are not going to win. The delegates awarded to them then have to vote for someone else at the convention.
"Loose Lips Sink Ships"And these Revolutionaries were going "In Harms Way" where they were destined to all "Hang Together or Hang Alone".
well she did,and she didnt because there was many things going on so that's what happend
AnswerThey were Robert Yates, John Lansing, Jr., and Alexander Hamilton. However, Yates and Lansing would leave the Convention, and Hamilton would be the only NY delegate to sign, going against the political grain of his state. Even worse, Hamilton had no vote since because of the convention's rules at least two delegates had to be present and voting for their vote to count. His voice was heard and perhaps that is enough. Alexander Hamilton, John Lansing and Robert Yates.
delegates vote to nominate a presidential candidate
Never fast enough!! Seriously, delegates run whenever there is going to be an election.
They wanted to keep the Constitution a secret because a leakage of information can spell treason for going against the established government, which at the time, was Articles of Confederation.
Well, we're not actually having the election yet. That comes in November. Right now the Democrats are going through the process of choosing a presidential candidate by means of state primaries and caucuses. That's how the convention delegates get committed to a candidate for the first ballot. The Democratic party convention will decide on the Democratic candidate and his or her running mate. That's who will face McCain, the Republican candidate, on the November ballot.

As the American Revolution neared, Thomas Stone joined the Committee of correspondence for Charles County. From 1774 to 1776, he was a member of Maryland's Annapolis Convention. In 1775, the convention sent Stone as a delegate to the Continental Congress. He was re-elected and attended regularly for several years. On May 15, 1776 he voted in favor of drafting a declaration of independence, in spite of restrictions from the Maryland convention that prevented their delegates from supporting it. In June the restriction was lifted, so Maryland's delegates were free to vote for Independence. Previously, Stone had been in favor of opening diplomatic relations with Great Britain and not going to war.
