A chalupa is a tostada platter in Mexican cuisine. It is a specialty of south-central Mexico, such as the states of Puebla, Guerrero and Oaxaca. It is made by pressing a thin layer of masa dough around the outside of a small mold and deep frying to produce a crisp shallow corn cup. Chalupa also refers to small boats that function as shallops, water taxis or gondolas, such as those seen at the "floating gardens" of Xochimilco south of Mexico City.

In urban slange, "chalupe" can mean when everything is going your way, and something on good on top of that happens.

In slang it can also mean to go have sex.

Have fun trying to see how it might have been derived from chalupa.

"Chalupa" is a Mexican dish consisting of a fried corn tortilla filled with various ingredients such as shredded meat, beans, cheese, and salsa. It is similar to a tostada but with the tortilla edges folded up to create a boat-like shape.
