I can't say for the pet kind, however street rats here in Chicago smell much like musty urine, almost a dirty wet dog or cattle smell. It's not the rat your smelling it's the urine and feces they leave behind. It's pretty gross. If you have more then a few the smell can get pretty bad.
From my experience (this morning) I'm pretty sure the smell is the same as a kind of rotting fishy smelling chicken with a hint of cheese, it is a warm lingering putrid smell and will permeate the house unless you get rid of the dead carcas and clean the area fully.
This is my most recent mouse story: I have seen a mouse running around/hiding in the kitchen a few times in the past 3 or 4 months now, perhaps 4 times, seen one run out of my bedroom and another time seen one run in, take one look at my boyfriend and I watching a movie and run straight back out again, and I've heard it (or them) between the floorboards about 3 times during this time too. Fast little buggers!
I have tried using the JML plug-in-the-wall repellants, they do not work AT ALL, what a waste of money that was. I then bought 2 humane mouse traps with specific mouse-bait in it as well as a little bit of chocolate. They do not work either, these London mice are obviosly pretty clever. I thought I'd also mention that I've never found any mouse droppings in my flat at all.
However this morning I went to the fridge to get some milk before having to rush to work and there was an almighty smell, described as above. This fishy rotting flesh smell, definitely nothing rotting inside my fridge but the stench is certainly coming from that area so I'm convinced and 95% sure that this is the smell of a dead mouse. I'd never smelled it before today.
I am dreading going home to pull the fridge out and discover a rotting rodent in my kitchen....(my favourite room of the flat).
Yes.
Yes, because mice they have a keen sense of smell and will start to smell "human" around it or, worse, the smell of "death" because of the dead mice that came before them.
A smell will not harm you. But the rotting bodies will carry germs and parasites.
I know the don't like the smell of air freshener. But don't spray it to close spray into the air.
Some rats and mice just like the taste or smell of it. :)
You could try rubbing them on a Dead Rat that you can buy in a pet store that has been frozen, sometime the different smell will encourage them to eat the mouse.
Yes. It's not an overwhelmingly strong odor if they're dry, but you can smell them.
Mice are actually very clean. Male mice do produce a strong smell, but female mice have no detectable smell at all.
No, mice have a better sense of smell .
Well, do not know if you are asking if mice have the sense of smell or that they put out an odor. First, mice have a very good sense of smell second, mice will only put out an odor that people can smell if their cage is not kept really clean.
No plant smells like anything dead. Certain strains of marijuana can smell similar to a skunk.
i mean, like them, smell better not the cage or anything
