1995-1999 Dodge & Plymouth Neons
Ford Explorer XLT
What does it mean when you start 97 neon and water comes out from under engine area is it the water pump hoses or radiator?
It is my guess that it is the water pump. There are no hoses
connected to the water pump, so check the two rad hoses and if they
are dry, it is likely the water pump. It could also be the head
gasket or (unlikley) even the head)
How do you drain transmission fluid from hoses connected to radiator instead of underneath car?
Just disconnect the hoses from the radiator and direct them into a container capable of holding about 14 quarts. Start the engine and let it run until no more fluid comes out. Hook the hoses back up and fill the trans making sure not to overfil it. You don't get the filter changed this way which I think is important to do and the most of the time it is MESSY.

What do you do if there is no water in the radiator but the reserve tank is full on a 1997 chevy Malibu?
If there is no water in the radiator and the reserve tank is full on any vehicle, you realize you have a leak and you fix it before you wreck your engine. First: fill your radiator with water. Look for a leak. If you see that a hose is leaking, yell "Hallelujah." You have the least expensive of all repairs facing you. In that case, you take off all four hoses, the two cooling hoses to the engine and the two heater hoses. You take them to the parts shop and get replacement hoses and put those on the vehicle. When one hose breaks, the others will break soon so you replace all of them at once. You purchase a new thermostat. You will replace the thermostat as well. You take out the old thermostat and leave it off. You will start filling the radiator with coolant instead of water this time. When the level of coolant gets to the level of the thermostat hole, then you install the new thermostat. Then you keep filling the radiator until it is full. You start the engine. Eventually the thermostat will open with a gulp. The level of coolant in the radiator will drop. You fill the radiator with coolant and close the cap. If there is not a leak in a hose, you call a mechanic.

Why does the radiator constantly need toping up?
It means that you've got a leak somewhere in the cooling system. extra: - CHECK YOUR HOSES FIRST -Check your engine oil dip stick, if the oil is milky there is a possibility of a cracked head. - Check your radiator with the pressure cap off (Do this when the engine is cold Don't do it when the engine is hot as there is high danger of scalding if you attempt to remove the cap ) If there is oil in the water then you may have blown the head gasket. Another indication is when you start the engine with the pressure cap off there may be bubbles in the radiator. - Check the frost plugs haven't popped out or are corroded (this usually happens on the older engines that haven't had a good radiator servicing) - Some vehicles have problems with leaking hoses in the car heaters (older cars)

How do you change radiator in 2001 eclipse?
The purpose of the radiator in your Mitsubishi Eclipse is to keep the engine from overheating. If the radiator is damaged or worn out, you should replace it immediately because operating the vehicle with a damaged radiator can cause expensive engine damage. Here's how to replace the radiator in a 2000 to 2005 model Eclipse. step1: Disconnect the negative battery cable before you proceed. Then, locate the drain plug on the bottom of the radiator and drain the engine coolant into a resealable container. Removing the radiator cap will help the radiator to drain faster. step2: Remove the overflow tank and hose, and disconnect both upper and lower radiator hoses. Use a pencil to mark the upper radiator hose to be sure that you can reinstall it correctly. If your Eclipse is equipped with an automatic transmission, detach the oil cooler hoses. Mark the hose with a pencil before you remove it to help with the reinstallation process. step3: Remove the upper radiator supports and pull the radiator assembly out of the engine compartment. Transfer any remaining attachments from the old radiator to the new radiator, and install the radiator assembly in the engine compartment. Tighten the bolts according to specifications. step4: Reconnect the automatic transmission lines, if applicable. Tighten the bracket bolt according to specifications and reconnect the upper radiator hose and lower radiator hose. Put the radiator tank into position and tighten the bolts according to specifications. Reconnect the overflow hose and connect the negative battery cable. Fill the radiator with a blend of half engine coolant and half distilled water. Start the engine, let it run for several minutes with the radiator cap on very loosely. Turn the engine off and top off the engine coolant blend. Put the radiator cap on securely.
Asked in Pontiac Fiero
How do you easily replace the 3 1984 Fiero coolant hoses by the engine?
There is no "EASY" way The best way to change the main in engine compartment cooling hoses, not the heater hoses: Jack up the rear of the car high enough that you can work on the front of the engine from below. You will also need to lift the front of the car, this is so you have room underneath to drain the radiator. Drain the engine block and radiator, there is a drain plug on the engine block and the bottom of one of the radiator tanks. Replace the hoses, you will want new clamps just to be sure. It will probably be easiest to change all three from underneath but one end of the upper hose will need to be undone and reconnect to the thermostat housing from above. Once the hoses are changed you will need to refill the cooling system. Put the car to a level position. Remove the radiator cap, thermostat cap and thermostat under it. Fill the cooling system from the engine thermostat housing and put the radiator cap back on once the coolant is full there. Top up the coolant into the thermostat housing. Do not put the thermostat back in but do put the cap on the thermostat housing. Start and run the engine from 15 seconds to 30 seconds. Remove the thermostat cap again CAREFULLY! Top up the coolant and install the thermostat and put the cap on. Go for a drive, be careful to watch the engine tempurature! We may still have an air lock and cause an over heat.

What is the proper procedure to flush the radiator system on a 2001 Nissan Sentra?
First you must disconect the smaller hoses, then the one on the top left then top right. When you disconect the small hoses expect fluid to leak out, so get a large container. Same for the larger hoses. Then put the emergency brake on (just in case) and start the car, but make sure there is something under the engine [preferably towards the front] to catch the fluid. Be sure to rev the engine a couple times. After about 30 seconds shut the car off. Now use a hose and spray it into the radiator where the cap is located. Finally re-connect all the hoses and re-fill the car of engine coolant and if its front wheel drive you will also need trans fluid.

How do you replace the Radiator on 95 Camry 4 cylinder Automatic with twin fans and the extra unkown connectors at bottom base side of the radiator?
InstructionsDifficulty: Moderately Challenging == * Resealable container * Replacement radiator * Engine coolant * Distilled water Step1 Disconnect the negative battery cable before you begin. Loosen the drain plug on the bottom of the radiator and drain the engine coolant into a resealable container. If you loosen the radiator cap, the fluids will flow faster. Step2 Unhook the radiator inlet hose and outlet hoses, and disconnect the oil cooler inlet hose and outlet hoses. Disconnect the connector on the fan motor and the clamps on the fan shroud's wire harness. Step3 Remove the fan mount bolts and the fan, along with the motor, and pull the radiator assembly out of the engine compartment. Detach the fan from the old radiator and transfer it to the new radiator. Step4 Slide the new radiator carefully into the engine compartment and tighten the bolts and claps on the radiator and the fan. Step5 Reconnect the clamps on the fan shroud's wire harness, the connector on the fan motor, the oil cooler outlet and inlet hoses and the radiator outlet and inlet hoses. Reconnect the reverse battery connector. Step6 Fill the radiator with a blend of half engine coolant and half distilled water, pouring slowly to avoid air build-up. Step7 Start the engine and let the car warm up to bleed air from the system. Turn off the engine and top off the coolant level. * Be environmentally responsible and reuse engine coolant if it isn't too old or contaminated. If you choose not to reuse it, take it to a garage or hazardous waste facility where it can be disposed of properly. * Be sure to keep engine coolant in a sealed container out of the reach of children and pets, and if any is spilled, clean it up immediately. Remember that antifreeze tastes sweet, and can be fatal if ingested. * Wear protective clothing, gloves and eyewear when replacing the radiator in your Toyota Camry. Never open the radiator cap if the temperature of the engine coolant is 100 degrees or more, as serious burns can occur.
How do you change coolant on n16?
Do this when the engine is cold only. First, remove the radiator cap. Then, locate the lower radiator hose. Unfasten this from the radiator. The old coolant will come out. Wait until the coolant has all come out. Then fasten the radiator hose again, make sure it is tight. Pour the new coolant into the radiator. Then, start the engine and let it idle. Pour more coolant into the radiator until it is almost full. Leave a space of 1 cm or so as the hot water will expand in the radiator and needs more space than cold water. Then, replace the radiator cap. Make sure the radiator hoses are not cracked or leaking. Check the coolant every week on older cars, at the same time as you check the engine oil level. Be careful with this, as the pistons will seize in the cylinders if the cooling system runs dry or even partially dry.
How can you change a radiator on a 1985 Toyota van?
Several steps are involved. First, be sure that the engine is cold. Remove the radiator cap on the cold engine to remove all pressure. Then disconnect the car battery and take care that the car keys are not in the ignition switch. (Never start the engine during this process.) Remove the plug at the bottom of the radiator and remove the fluid, if the fluid is old dispose of it. Then remove the front grille of the van. Disconnect the radiator hoses from the radiator and the engine with a proper screwdriver. Examine for cracks and replace if necessary. Two main bolts hold the radiator in place with clamps at the sides, remove the bolts, then you can lift the radiator from the van using both hands, be careful not to strike tor dent he radiator against hard surfaces. Check the fan belt, replace if necessary. Assembly: The reverse procedure of what is described above. Replace the hoses or clamps if necessary, make sure the system is not leaking after filling up with proper anti - freeze or pure clean water. Test-drive, then check again for leaks, observe the temperature from the meter in the dashboard.
