It is my guess that it is the water pump. There are no hoses connected to the water pump, so check the two rad hoses and if they are dry, it is likely the water pump. It could also be the head gasket or (unlikley) even the head)

How do you drain transmission fluid from hoses connected to radiator instead of underneath car?

Just disconnect the hoses from the radiator and direct them into a container capable of holding about 14 quarts. Start the engine and let it run until no more fluid comes out. Hook the hoses back up and fill the trans making sure not to overfil it. You don't get the filter changed this way which I think is important to do and the most of the time it is MESSY.

What can cause a 1994 Chevrolet Camaro V6 to over heat... I Replaced the water pump thermostats and hoses?

Maybe a bad head gasket. When cold, take the radiator cap off and start the engine. If it is a head gasket, water should shoot out of the radiator.

What do you do if there is no water in the radiator but the reserve tank is full on a 1997 chevy Malibu?

If there is no water in the radiator and the reserve tank is full on any vehicle, you realize you have a leak and you fix it before you wreck your engine. First: fill your radiator with water. Look for a leak. If you see that a hose is leaking, yell "Hallelujah." You have the least expensive of all repairs facing you. In that case, you take off all four hoses, the two cooling hoses to the engine and the two heater hoses. You take them to the parts shop and get replacement hoses and put those on the vehicle. When one hose breaks, the others will break soon so you replace all of them at once. You purchase a new thermostat. You will replace the thermostat as well. You take out the old thermostat and leave it off. You will start filling the radiator with coolant instead of water this time. When the level of coolant gets to the level of the thermostat hole, then you install the new thermostat. Then you keep filling the radiator until it is full. You start the engine. Eventually the thermostat will open with a gulp. The level of coolant in the radiator will drop. You fill the radiator with coolant and close the cap. If there is not a leak in a hose, you call a mechanic.

Why is my radiator hose sucking in when you start your engine?

The relief vent in the radiator cap is not working, replace the radiator cap.

Why you smell radiator fluid?

If you are smelling the sweet but unpleasant aroma of antifreeze, your vehicle is leaking it somewhere. A lot of the time the culprit is the water pump. They have a weep hole and when the bearing starts to fail it will begging leaking from this hole. I would start by getting myself a flashlight and start scanning your engine's water hoses for a leak. Check the mail hoses going to/from the radiator as well as the heater hoses leading to the firewall. Do you smell the antifreeze odor INSIDE the car? If so, it could be your heater core that's failing.

How do you fix a water leak on the 2000 VW beetle?

after 15 minutes when i start my car water start leaking apparently hoses radiator look fine

Why does the radiator constantly need toping up?

It means that you've got a leak somewhere in the cooling system. extra: - CHECK YOUR HOSES FIRST -Check your engine oil dip stick, if the oil is milky there is a possibility of a cracked head. - Check your radiator with the pressure cap off (Do this when the engine is cold Don't do it when the engine is hot as there is high danger of scalding if you attempt to remove the cap ) If there is oil in the water then you may have blown the head gasket. Another indication is when you start the engine with the pressure cap off there may be bubbles in the radiator. - Check the frost plugs haven't popped out or are corroded (this usually happens on the older engines that haven't had a good radiator servicing) - Some vehicles have problems with leaking hoses in the car heaters (older cars)

Does the fluid in the radiator have to flow as soon as you turn the engine on?

No , the engine coolant will start flowing through the radiator when the engine coolant thermostat starts to open ( assuming everything is working properly ) Helpfull

How do you replace the Radiator on 95 Camry 4 cylinder Automatic with twin fans and the extra unkown connectors at bottom base side of the radiator?

InstructionsDifficulty: Moderately Challenging== * Resealable container * Replacement radiator * Engine coolant * Distilled water Step1 Disconnect the negative battery cable before you begin. Loosen the drain plug on the bottom of the radiator and drain the engine coolant into a resealable container. If you loosen the radiator cap, the fluids will flow faster.Step2 Unhook the radiator inlet hose and outlet hoses, and disconnect the oil cooler inlet hose and outlet hoses. Disconnect the connector on the fan motor and the clamps on the fan shroud's wire harness.Step3 Remove the fan mount bolts and the fan, along with the motor, and pull the radiator assembly out of the engine compartment. Detach the fan from the old radiator and transfer it to the new radiator.Step4 Slide the new radiator carefully into the engine compartment and tighten the bolts and claps on the radiator and the fan.Step5 Reconnect the clamps on the fan shroud's wire harness, the connector on the fan motor, the oil cooler outlet and inlet hoses and the radiator outlet and inlet hoses. Reconnect the reverse battery connector.Step6 Fill the radiator with a blend of half engine coolant and half distilled water, pouring slowly to avoid air build-up.Step7 Start the engine and let the car warm up to bleed air from the system. Turn off the engine and top off the coolant level.* Be environmentally responsible and reuse engine coolant if it isn't too old or contaminated. If you choose not to reuse it, take it to a garage or hazardous waste facility where it can be disposed of properly. * Be sure to keep engine coolant in a sealed container out of the reach of children and pets, and if any is spilled, clean it up immediately. Remember that antifreeze tastes sweet, and can be fatal if ingested. * Wear protective clothing, gloves and eyewear when replacing the radiator in your Toyota Camry. Never open the radiator cap if the temperature of the engine coolant is 100 degrees or more, as serious burns can occur.

What helps a car engine cool down?

The best way to cool down an overheated car engine is to park the vehicle. Allowing the engine to cool down naturally avoids all potential hazards and it is also safer for the engine. If you must start the cooling process immediately, pour cool water over the radiator and upper and lower hoses.

Why cars make boiling sound from radiator?

Because the radiator is provided with coolent which start boiling on absorbing heat from the engine.
