"S" stands for sport. In this setting, the transmission has higher thresholds for upshifts and downshifts a lot faster. There are 2 sport settings, S3, which only goes up to 3rd gear and it is useful for driving on hilly terain, and S4 which is like drive, but with higher thresholds.
1988 Honda acura legend S-3 light keeps coming on what should I do
Unscrew it.
I don't know the Acura as they are not in the UK But it may well have safety device fitted that will not allow you to shift from park unless your foot is on the brake pedal. If this is the case, check that the brake lights are working, if they are not it may indicate a faulty brake light switch.
Yes. Unless the light is burned out.
It wont shift because its leaking fluid.
If its automatic your transmission probably slipped,if it standard your gear is probably warn out and it cant grab it.
It's the overdrive engage button, which is like a 5th gear. It only engages when the gear lever is in 4th gear and it can be operated without depressing the clutch.
What are the two d's on the gear shift for>
Yep, then shift from second to third gear.
The car isn't necessarily shifting into neutral its just staying in a lower gear and not shifting to the next gear, check your transmission fluid.
truck start shift is hard to move in gear
Im not sure if its happend yet, But this was happening to mine and about a week later the trany poped-and was locked in 2nd gear. I could still shift it but putting it in any gear other then second or neutral would cause the eng to stall out. Was odd cause even in neutral the car would move but it was burning the mess out of the clutch. Basically if yo know how go to a junkyard an get another one the tranny is toast.
