What does the flashing green 'S' mean on the dash of a 1991 Honda Accord DX?

AnswerMy father told me that it could possibly be the service light. Maybe an oil change or something like that. Mine is blinking too and I need an oil change. But I'm not really sure.?.?

I had the same problem with my transmission. I took it to AAA Transmissio and was told that the light flashes when the transmission goes into a safe mode only allowing 1st and 3rd gears to work. The solution is to replace the shift solenoid, not to be confused with the shift lock solenoid. There are two located on the transmission where the transmission cooling lines are. If you find where the rubber hoses connect to the metal lines for the transmission cooler the solenoid that needs to be replaced is the lower one. This is very easy and is only three screws. You can find the part at www.rockauto.com for about half of what a dealer wants. They also provide a picture of the part so you know what your looking for on the vehicle. I installed mine more than a year ago and haven't had a problem since.

Just like the first answer, your transmission is set for sport. Look on your shifter, there is a little button underneath the one you press when you switch gears, depress this little button and that "S" light should turn off.

my 1991 Honda accord did the same thimg in june2010 the light was blinking and the car did not go faster than 30 mph i pulled over turn it off a a few minuter started it back up and it went offf and it stared rolling back the way it was suppose to......... jeromejpow@msn.com
